What we store on your device

Short version: we set three small cookies of our own, none of them for advertising, and only one of them requires your permission. We do not use Google Analytics, advertising pixels, session recorders, or any third-party tracking service. Nothing on this site sends your browsing to another company.

How our analytics works

We measure this site ourselves, on our own servers. If you do not turn on return-visit attribution, we store nothing on your device for analytics at all. Instead, our server turns your IP address and browser user-agent into a one-way key using a secret that we regenerate every day and delete after 48 hours.

That matters because it is irreversible by design: once the day’s secret is deleted, yesterday’s activity cannot be traced back to any IP address by anyone, including us. We never write your IP address or user-agent to a database. We record the country and region your request came from, but never your city or precise location.

The categories you control

Strictly necessary (cannot be switched off) — Remembers your privacy choice and keeps forms and sign-in working. Without these the site cannot function. Never used to track you. ferrite_consent (12 months), plus short-lived session storage.
Usage analytics — Lets us count page views and see which pages are read, how far down people scroll, and where visitors arrive from. Measured on our own servers — no third party receives this. No cookie. A daily-rotating key derived on our server, unlinkable after 48 hours.
Return-visit attribution — Lets us recognise this browser on a later visit, so we can see the full path someone took before contacting us. This is the only setting that creates a lasting identifier. ferrite_vid (12 months), a random ID. Not shared, sold, or joined to ad networks.

Changing your mind

Open at any time — it is in the footer of every page. Withdrawing is one click and takes effect immediately: we stop collecting, and the ferrite_vid identifier is deleted from your browser.

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, we treat that as an opt-out automatically, everywhere in the world, without you having to click anything. Our server enforces this independently of the banner.
